Meet Our Team of Highly Trained and Experienced Professionals

The staff at The Oaks Manor is extensively trained to handle all your needs promptly and efficiently. We offer flexible schedules and customized care for every individual. Building strong relationships with our residents is of paramount importance to us.

Marijo Eisbrenner

Marijo co-directs The Oaks Manor with her husband Eric. Marijo functions as the CEO. Marijo has a Ph.D. in Microbiology and in the past was a professor at University of Kentucky; owned her own pest control company; was a real estate investor; and an international speaker and trainer. Marijo is also a Certified Nurse Aide and a Food Manager. Marijo is well-traveled and her photographs line the hallways of The Oaks Manor. Marijo loves making The Oaks look beautiful. Eric and Marijo live in the small home directly behind The Oaks Manor. Caring for our residents is our mission and passion.

Eric Eisbrenner

Eric co-directs The Oaks Manor with his wife Marijo. Eric functions as the CFO and is also a food manager. Eric’s background is in financial accounting and corporate fund-raising world. He has worked and still has ties to the medical device community. One of the devices he and his partner developed has been credited for saving millions of lives. His company was featured in the Wall Street Journal as being one of the top medical devices in 2010. Eric and Marijo met in San Antonio about a year after Eric’s wife died from early onset Alzheimer’s. Both Eric & Marijo are people of faith with huge hearts for loving the lonely, the widows and widowers. They find sweet joy in being involved in the lives of our residents and team members. They are striving to “make a difference”!

Debbie D.

Debbie is responsible for planning our activities and doubles as the Community Outreach Director. The youngest of eight children. Although born in Chicago, Debbie was raised in Brocton and graduated from Shiloh High School. She attended Lakeland College. Settling in the metropolis of Ashmore over forty-four years ago, she raised two daughters and worked at Richey’s Furniture for thirty years. Debbie also became a CNA and has worked in private duty home health. Debbie also spends one-on-one time with each of our residents. Debbie, along with her husband Mike, enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. They are members of the Wesley United Church in Charleston.

Etta W.

Etta was the first born of 9 children and grew up in the small town of Trilla. A couple of years after graduating from Mattoon High School, Etta starting working at RR Donnelly & Sons. While there she met the love of her life and was married to Bill for thirty-five years. Etta and Bill had two sons and now Etta has 5 grandsons, 2 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. They are her pride and joy! Etta has now worked at The Oaks Manor for over ten years and reminds us all to take time to smell the roses and count each minute as precious.

Kalyn C. - Certified Nurse Aid

Jesse O.

Jesse was born in Wyoming and raised in Oakland. She graduated from Oakland High School and has resided in different places, including Oklahoma, Tennessee, Indiana, and Virginia. She has five children. Jesse returned to her roots at the beginning of 2020. She listens to music and does gardening in her free time. Jesse is a Resident Aide working the night shift at The Oaks Manor.

Erica "Danni" B. - Resident Aide

Although her given name is Erica, she prefers Danni. Danni wears many “hats” on our team. She is an excellent cook and has her food manager’s license. She also is a resident aide and does the weekly housekeeping. She is currently a student at Eastern Illinois University majoring in history. Danni loves working on puzzles and reading. Following graduation, Danni wants to work in a museum or as a librarian. Always willing to help in any way she can, we are lucky to have her as part of the Oaks Team.

Valerie C. - Culinary Team

Valerie is one of our culinary specialists in our community. She earned her Associates Degree from Parkland College in Veterinary Science and had groomed pets for over twenty years. Her love of cooking and the hospitality industry moved her into obtaining her food manager’s license in 2018. She has now worked in the hospitality industry for several years. Valerie loves our residents and they love her cooking. Val is the mother of four boys. Valerie’s favorite dishes are lasagna, goulash and butter chicken; and cheesecake for dessert.

Amy T. - Resident Aide

Amy is originally from the Philippines. In college she earned her degree in Elementary Education and obtained her TESOL Certificate. While teaching in Vietnam she met her future husband, Rick. Rick was from Oakland and that’s how Amy came to be a resident of Oakland. They have a daughter and a son. Amy is joyful and quite the joker. Amy is very talented and can make beautiful silk flowers. She also enjoys photography and thinks Oakland is one of the most beautiful places in the world she has seen.
